CURRENTLY SEEKING:

Part-Time Evening Receptionist

Community Music School, a growing not-for-profit music and arts education organization, seeks a responsible and organized individual for the position of Part-Time Evening Receptionist.

The key goal of the position is to foster good communication between student families and the school, ensuring a positive experience that retains our existing student base and helps us grow in the right direction – one that is always aligned to the students’ needs.

Hours are Monday through Thursday 5 to 7pm during the academic school year, roughly September through June. CMS is closed for most major holidays and school vacation weeks.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Answer telephones and provide customer support regarding school programs and lessons
  • Accept registrations and process payments for course offerings
  • Remain knowledgeable of all programs offered through CMS
  • Convey messages regarding student registration, scheduling and schedule changes, student and teacher cancellations, and other information to the correct staff member
  • Ensure CMS studios and wait areas are safe and well-ordered
  • Light clerical work when not engaged with customers, e.g. filing, copying, mailing preparation, etc.
  • Secure the office and lock up the facility if the faculty have already left
  • Occasionally assist with concert and event preparations

 

Job Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Excellent customer service and telephone skills
  • Well-developed computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
  • Ability to think creatively and solve problems efficiently and effectively
  • Highly organized with demonstrated success working independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Willingness to perform purely clerical duties and to pitch in occasionally with physical duties such as setting up chairs

 

Additional Attributes Desired

  • Knowledge of FileMaker Pro or other similar database management system
  • Appreciation of music and arts education
  • Interest in community activities
